The “Global Greenchem Innovation and Network Program (GGINP)” aims to strengthen the sound management of industrial chemicals and their waste through better control, waste reduction and/or elimination and particularly to strengthen green chemistry solutions for persistent organic pollutants (POP chemicals) and mercury replacement through capacity building, innovations and creation of a global green chemistry network that fosters visibility, support and implementation.

Through funding from Global Environment Facility (GEF), United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) which is the implementing agency in conjunction with Yale University as the executing agency are partnering with Uganda Cleaner Production Centre and other Research institutions, government agencies and NGOs to implement the project.

Green chemistry aims at redesigning chemical products and processes to be safer, more efficient, and less harmful to the environment and human health. This holistic approach not only reduces the immediate impacts of harmful chemicals but also supports long-term sustainability.
